Consider including your garden in New Dance Horizons' 25th Annual Secret Gardens Tour!
The Secret Gardens Tour is a self-guided journey through privately owned local gardens. These gardens are chosen by the Secret Gardens Tour Committee, a group of dedicated volunteers who, along with staff, consult with various horticulture experts to determine which gardens are suitable for public viewing. Above all, we look for unique approaches to yard design and landscape architecture. We consider gardens for their location, accessibility, variety of styles, or for specific qualities that we feel would be appealing to tour participants.
The 2025 Secret Gardens Tour will be held over three days. Day garden tours run from 10am to 4pm on Saturday & Sunday, and night gardens will be open from 6:30pm to 9:30pm on Friday & Saturday. A total of 500 tickets are sold each year, and the tour is self-guided with viewers arriving at different intervals. There are usually no more than 10 people in a garden at one time, and typically no one stays more than 20 minutes at any given stop on the tour. We have volunteers stationed at every yard throughout the tour days. The most important feature of the tour, singled out by previous viewers, is the ability to talk and exchange information with the tour gardeners. We encourage all gardeners whose yards are being showcased to take part in the Secret Gardens Tour experience. As a thank-you for showcasing your garden, we offer two complimentary tickets for each garden!
Not only is the Secret Gardens Tour a wonderful event, it is an important annual fundraising venture for New Dance Horizons. New Dance Horizons is a nationally-recognized, non-profit arts organization dedicated to presenting new visions in contemporary dance. As Saskatchewan's longest running presenter and producer of dance by outstanding choreographers and independent artists, New Dance Horizons believes that there is a natural connection between gardens and dance. Gardens, like contemporary dance, are ephemeral on the surface, yet constant underneath, in spirit and imagination, in truth and in life. Moments of profound splendor and beauty, too, exist in nature and are in the nature of dance. The title - Secret Gardens Tour - is evocative of the secret world where nature's magic works in ways that are a delight to uncover. All tour addresses remain a secret known only to ticket holders!
