Untitled by Orest ShaskoBio: My first years of my life were spent on a small farm in Runnymede Saskatchewan, and I grew up in Kamsack under diverse sociological conditions in a predominant Ukrainian culture in the 1950s. I attended the University of Regina in Fine Arts program in the 1970s influenced by ceramic sculpture. I started oil paintings at the age of 10, made later achievements in clay work, creating Ukrainian churches and antique car models. In 1991 I started Prairie Dust Art Gallery & Studio in Lumsden, where I’ve lived for 42 years. My interest in gardening, science, and carpentry has led me in various projects, one of which is the butterfly house. My gallery offers prairie works, mould-making, and ceramic classes.
